Jana gana mana lyrics in English 

“Jan Gana Mana” national anthem of India was written by Rabindranath Tagore and originally composed as Bharoto Bhagyo Bidhata which is a Bengali poetry. Before making it as the Indian National Anthem, it was written in Tatsama Bengali (Sadhu Bengali), based on Sanskrit Language.

The beginning stanza of the poetry ‘Bgaroto Bhagyo Bidhata” was considered as the National Anthem in 24th January 1950 by Constituent Assembly of India. At the time of rendition of National Anthem, people noticed that it took 52 seconds approx. to sung national Anthem.

After, the shortened version was released which considered the first and the last stanza of the national anthem which require 20 seconds to play. People started playing National Anthem occasionally and publically sung first time in December 27, 1911 at Calcutta (Kolkatta) in the session of the Indian National Congress.
